I wish that the upcoming (I hope we don’t have to wait long) release of Twitter for Mac, that was introduced yesterday in the brand new Mac App Store, will have the following features:
- Tweet read state synchronization between Twitter for Mac and Twitter for iPhone application. It’s obviously a killer-feature of Echofon.
- Appearance tab in Settings, that allows changing font size and typeface. I know that Lucida Grande is brilliant for UI, but Georgia is sometimes more preferable. Font size is of high importance too for those who love their large displays.
- Layout-independent hot-keys binding. This isn’t only Twitter flaw—lot of Mac applications is of concern. I mean that I have russian keyboard layout active for almost half a time I spent with my hands on keyboard, but hot-keys with letters involved don’t work, e.g. ⌘+W (with latin ‘W’ or cyrillic ‘Ц’) always close current window, regardless of what keyboard layout is active. A lot of keyboard navigation is notable feature of Twitter for Mac—just fix the issue and it would become brilliant.
- The feature web-interface of twitter has that I was expected to see in the Twitter for Mac is the ability to see all replies to arbitrary tweet. I don’t mean only ‘dialog unfolding’, but the ‘replies ↓’ section, that can show replies whether you follow the authors of that tweet or not. This feature is pretty handy for those who like asking their followers.
- Showing mages from various photo sharing services in the pop-up window (the way TwitPic is implemented now) is the last but not the list feature I wish to see in the Twitter for Mac.
